Welcome to Brighton Students' Union Freshers 2020.
We are super excited to bring you ‘Freshers
Unplugged’, a series of virtual events designed to help you connect with new friends. Get involved online with famous drag queens (we’re looking at you Cheryl Hole), put your sporting knowledge to the test, relax and unwind with yoga/meditation, dance the night away with a bingo boogie and even cook-along-roast-dinner-classes for you and your housemates.
There is something for everyone so why not grab a free wristband (where ALL events will be added automatically to your account) or simply select a few events (if you’re not feeling them all) and start your journey with us at Brighton Students’ Union.
We look forward to seeing you soon!

How does fresher’s work this year?
Freshers’ is looking a little different this year however it is still very exciting. We will be hosting an array of virtual events on our virtual platform, Native. We have hand selected events that will offer our new students the absolute best chance to not only connect with many new friends, but also a fun two weeks full of games, events, and prize giveaways!
Why should I get involved?
We understand that it has been a super tough year and there have been plenty of adjustments for everyone away from the social norm. To give back and make your time settling in with us that little bit easier, we have decided to offer all our freshers’ events for FREE. Yes, you heard correct, FREE!! Though we appreciate that virtual events are not ideal, we feel confident that the events we have chosen are extremely worthwhile! What are you waiting for? Get involved and start your freshers’ journey at Brighton.
I am having trouble with my account who do I contact?
If you are experiencing any issues with your account, then please contact Native directly. Their team will be on hand to offer support and guidance throughout the freshers’ period. Simply email email@example.com with details about the event or topic you are having troubles with. If this is a University related question, then please email mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org.
What is Native?
Native is a student events discovery platform that aims to deliver the best experiences to students. Their website and app show events in your city and now they power experiences like University of Brighton Freshers' Week 2020. This year they are supporting the Student Union community through the Coronavirus Pandemic by providing an out-of-the box virtual events solution, in addition to top quality online and socially distanced events for freshers’ programmes.
How do I register for the free events wristband?
To claim your FREE wristband for freshers’ 2020, simply follow these five simple steps below. You can register using either a personal or university email address.
Who can come to freshers week?
Like every year, freshers’ is aimed towards our new students however, we are happy for our 2nd and 3rd years to get involved. This is only available to The University of Brighton students.
How do I purchase tickets?
You will not need to purchase tickets as they will be included in your FREE wristband. You do however, need to sign up to the events you want to attend individually. Just simply click on the event included in your wristband and follow the instructions to take part. Any questions please contact the Native support team: email@example.com
Do 3rd party wristbands work to get into Brighton Freshers?
NO. 3rd party wristbands do not allow you entry to any of our events. As a union we advise you to purchase BSU wristbands only and follow our main social pages for updates and information. 3rd party companies will always try and monopolise freshers’ – don’t be fooled. Simply look out for the BSU and unplugged logo, as well as following any link on our socials to guarantee that you have the right tickets.
What procedures do you have in place to ensure Freshers is Covid Safe?
We are really excited to be able to offer you a freshers’ 2020 that is completely Covid safe as it is all being done virtually. We are planning to incorporate a blended approach during certain parts of the freshers’ experience, to help you explore the different campuses here at Brighton. Please see below the measures we have in place to ensure your trips to University are as safe as possible.
We feel super fortunate to still be able to pop up on campus with goodies to greet some of you in just a few weeks’ time. Please keep an eye on our socials to see if you can spot us! For your safety we have lots of procedures in place to protect all students and staff members. We ask that you please read through and follow the guidelines carefully.
Please only attend our events if you are showing NO symptoms of the following:
We will have our fantastic sanitizing angels present at all events. Please utilise this and ensure you are always fully sanitized.
Please respect our social distancing rules that we have in place for your safety.
I am self-isolating/ in quarantine will I still be able to take part?
Yes. All our freshers’ events are virtual, meaning we bring the fun to you! All you need to do is take part.
